You’re amazing

I’m telling you.

You’re amazing.

But, it doesn’t always feel like that, does it?

In fact, many people are lost…in a sea of confused thinking:

“What’s my purpose?”

“Who am I?”

“Why aren’t I happy?”

And when we’re up in our heads (with a busy, always-on mind), there’s no letting up: one bad thought, leads to another, and before we know it, we’re down in the basement (Black Dog is never far away).

Is there a fix?

Hell, yeah!

Don’t take your thoughts so seriously.

But, actually, that’s a cop out. No, the most profound shift you can experience is to understand that you live in the experience of your thinking, 100% of the time.

Let me say that again. You live in the experience of your thinking (every moment of the day). This means your experience of the world comes from within, i.e. it’s 100% thought-made.

Of course, you don’t see it this way by dint of your programming and, in the process, you try to manage your external circumstances. 

(Ask yourself what you think makes you happy? Is it the pursuit or negation of something in the outside world, or is it, as I’m suggesting, by virtue of your internal wiring?)

Perhaps it’s overstating the point but this innocent misunderstanding is the reason why so many people suffer from a sense of lack. Instead, if they were to realise that the thing they’re seeking lies within, then there would be nothing to do, no place to go and they’d be grounded in their wisdom.

You might assume in exploring and understanding the inner terrain this negates the normalcy of life, i.e. earning a living, achievement and desire, but it doesn’t. In fact, more often than not, those people who understand the link between their thinking self and their emotional self, are the most grounded.

Is this something you learn?

Not really.

You have to experience it for yourself.

Even if you’re not yet persuaded of what I’m saying, ask yourself these two questions:

  1. Are your thoughts true?
  2. What is there when there is no thinking?

If you do take something from my few words, then you might decide not to cling so desperately to what previously you’ve held so dear. In fact, you might begin to see that thoughts are neutral and it’s only when we decide to ascribe meaning and import to them that life goes awry. This means that thoughts can come into your mind and leave by the same exit, without affecting you to any or at least the same degree as before.

And to be clear, I’m not saying that when a thought comes into your head, i.e. that you’re just about to burn your hand, you should ignore the thought but, by and large, your Lizard brain will act so quickly to keep you out of harm’s way that you won’t have a chance to analyse things to this degree.

I know all this self-enquiry can seem monotonous, but trust me if this point were grasped it might mean that we no longer cleave to those things that up to now have seen so real, but are of course a total figment of our mind.

And where will that leave you?

More real.

More relaxed.

More you.

Or perhaps, at peace with your circumstances and everything you perceive.
