Awareness of now

Living in the present sounds easy.

Of course, absent our mind, we would be.

But the mind… it hates the present.

It would much rather set up a plethora of states based on past conditioning or concocting our future.

Just imagine if you could obtain freedom from your mind, how different life would be. (And don’t think you can stop thinking. It’s impossible. Even meditation, or deep concentration will never abate the pattern.)

But one thing I’ve learnt is by applying myself mindfully to each and everything I do – and that includes speaking to people (we are such poor listeners) – makes it much harder for our mind to wander.

If you can apply yourself in this way, then you will find over time that you mind does quieten.

Do one thing at a time, mindfully.

How hard can that be?
