Essays and audio

I’ve decided to drop the title ‘blog’ and change the page to ‘essays’ — the one you’re now on.

The inspiration has arrived unbidden but I’m sure, somewhere in the melting pot, is reading and listening to Charles Eisenstein’s Essay, The Coronation.

Originally, I wasn’t going to maintain this site but, at the last minute, I had a change of heart, and heaved up the few hundred pounds for hosting.

As I say, it wasn’t what I’d intended and was one of the reasons why I started blogging again on Livejournal (LJ). I mean, at $20, it’s a snip, and whilst I know it’s not perfect, it’s better than nothing.

My plan is to publish a long-form essay once a month; it will be in the order of 2,500 – 5,000 words (that’s a reading time of between 8 – 16 minutes — manageable I think even with our short attention spans). As yet, I don’t know the date each month it will be published; I should get a better idea in the next few weeks. I’ve got a feeling it might come out towards the middle of the month. Just a hunch.

I could stick with LJ for everything but it’s not suitable for longer-form material or some of the issues I want to explore. More importantly, I’ve got this idea to publish a book of my essays. Ideally, I’d like to get something out before the end of the year but we’ll have to see.

In addition, I intend to use this site to sell my audio material. I’m going to update my Bandcamp page and start producing and uploading new audio material. I’ve in mind to either produce a contemplative monologue or a series of spoken word, poetic pieces.

I’ll keep you updated on Twitter when the first essay is ready for publication. In the meantime, if you’re able to support my work that would be amazing and much appreciated.

Much love, Ju.
