The simple life

“Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify.”

– Thoreau

There isn’t any aspect of our lives that we couldn’t simplify.

Our houses.

Our work.

Our families.

Our things.

And yet we thrive on complexity.

Look inside.

How much do you need to be happy?

You don’t need things.

You just need to be you.

In that moment everything else drops away.

The trouble is you build up an edifice which you can’t dismantle. In the end it speaks more of you than you.

Simplify.

Write that word where you will see it everyday.

And live by that creed.

Less is not just better, it’s who we are.
