“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it’s conformity.” ― Rollo May
We want to believe in a better world. Not one a little better than the current one but a new order.
In case you hadn’t noticed, and at the risk of sounding flippant, ‘it’s all in the mind’.
Everything we see, experience and perceive arises from thoughts and that’s why the questioning, if it arises, must be within, not outwith. In short, you have to investigate why you feel or experience something (via thoughts), not how you can purposefully change things out there.
In my case, I started with Sri Ramana Maharshi’s words translated in Nan Yar (Who am I?) but these days if and when the thoughts arise, as they always do, I first ask, “Are they or the experience true?”, in the vein of Byron Katie.
These though are only primers. If I’m honest, I know that once I’m fully present, and I mean fully alive to this moment, nothing else matters.
