“We inhabit ourselves without valuing ourselves, unable to see that here, now, this very moment is sacred; but once it’s gone – its value is incontestable.”
– Joyce Carol Oates
Life is right here.
I know what you are thinking, but the truth is that we never stop to fully appreciate that this moment may be our last.
I mean this breath.
I am sure that most of you have watched the Stanford Commencement speech of Steve Jobs (see below). It is one of those speeches that with the death of Steve is all the more prophetic. But, closer to home, we probably all know of someone who is no longer here. They would all share a common message – make the most of your life.
My advice is simple.
Don’t take anything for granted, either your next breath or the next meal.
Live mindfully, and in every moment.
Life is too precious to live it any other way.
