Workplace harmony – Julian Summerhayes

“We have the choice of two identities: the external mask which seems to be real…and the hidden, inner person who seems to us to be nothing, but who can give himself eternally to the truth in whom he subsists. (295)”
― Thomas Merton, New Seeds of Contemplation

Is there such a thing?

It doesn’t seem that way.

Simplistically, people don’t get on.

Of course, there are lots of solutions but they never last.

Perhaps it’s in the nature of things: people are not very nice.

But then again, might the solution be to look in a different direction to the extrinsic drivers?

Perhaps the enquiry should be within:

Who are you?

Does this mean you’d see rapid or permanent change if people understood the nature of true self, I’m not sure, but I do think it’s time to consider what’s really going on, instead of applying another sticking-plaster solution.
