“The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.
― Hannah Arendt, The Life of the Mind
Yesterday evening I spoke to my wife about the absence of the subversive voice, the anarchist, the contrarian. She gave me one of those looks that was reminiscent of (and I think I’m judging the mood correctly) keeping the peace.
I get it.
But how many people show up in our lives and make us think?
Very few in my case.
In fact, it’s very hard to identify anyone who was open or brave enough to say:
“To hell with this crap.”
It was all about not rocking the boat.
Never mind: the world has moved on. In fact, it’s tumbling towards oblivion and yet it’s all so predictable.
What are we scared of?
Losing our place in the queue?
I don’t know about you but I long for someone, anyone who speaks their mind.
Where does this leave me?
I ‘ve no idea but it almost feels like an exorcism needs to take place.
